Substitute School Crossing Guards are called-in to cover when there is an absence. Working for the Police Department, School Crossing Guards assist our children in safely crossing intersections in Amityville. Uniforms are provided. Staring salary is $11.00 per hour. The salary is increased to $13.00 per hour after satisfactory completion of the probationary period.

All Crossing Guard Applicants must successfully pass a background investigation, as well as medical and psychological testing prior to employment. Crossing Guards must be capable of standing for one to two hours at a time in all weather conditions. No experience is necessary; training will be provided.
