Suffolk County has issued a Blizzard Warning for Western Suffolk County in effect from Midnight Monday night until Midnight Tuesday night. Hazard types: heavy snow and blizzard conditions. snow accumulations of 12-18″. Snow fall rates of 2-4″ per hour early Tuesday morning. Wind Northeast 30-40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph on Tuesday. Visibility one quarter mile or less at times.
Amityville Justice Court and the Amityville Tax Sale are both cancelled on Tuesday, March 14th.
A coastal flood warning is in effect from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the south bays of western Long Island and Atlantic Ocean beachfront. The warning advises of tidal departures 2½ to 3 feet above astronomical tides Tuesday morning into early afternoon. As such, residents in low-lying areas may park their vehicles at either the Bennett Place Municipal Lot or Parking Field 6 (Route 110 just north of Merrick Road across from the Methodist Church). In order to facilitate snow plowing, vehicles must be off Village roadways.
