The Board of Trustees met on Monday, November 9th for our regularly scheduled meeting.
An application for a canopy was presented for Francesco’s Pizzeria and was unanimously approved; Francesco’s will be located in the old Mike’s/Fontana’s and is a welcome addition to the Village’s downtown. A landscaper’s license application was denied by unanimous vote of the Board. Applications such as these go through a fair amount of scrutiny in order to protect Village consumers and promote neighborhood safety.
Resolution 15-11-09-01 to join the Eastern Suffolk BOCES Cooperative Bidding Program was approved. This program allows the Village to purchase off the Eastern Suffolk Boces list of items such as janitorial supplies, office supplies, electrical supplies, etc. Cooperative bidding also saves money and time by allowing the Village to by-pass the legal notice requirements when going to bid. Additionally, this cooperative bidding program is an example of shared services that New York State has suggested municipalities participate in to save resources and reduce duplication of services.
Two budget modifications to increase the appropriations for new Village software approved over the summer and tax certioraris were approved. Two tax certioraris were presented by the Village Assessor and both were approved.
The Clerk/Treasurer presented requests from the Amityville Junior League to hold its annual Holiday Homes Tour on December 5th and the Amityville Historical Society for closure of Park Avenue between Ireland Place and Wanser Place on June 11, 2016 for its 47th Annual Heritage Fair. Both requests were approved by the Board.
