This training meets NYS Department of Health requirements and includes recognition of opioid overdose, administration of intranasal Narcan, and steps to take until EMS arrives. Participants will receive a certificate of completion and an emergency resuscitation kit that includes Narcan.
12:00 – 12:30: Presentation for Gary, a person in recovery.

Join the Amityville Parent Teacher Council (APTC) for a back-to-school kick off at Five Guys Burger & Fries! A portion of all sales from the evening will be donated back to the APTC. The APTC uses its funds to directly benefit the children of the Amityville School District by subsidizing school trips, helping children in need, and bringing educational programming into the schools. Please bring your children to the PBA sponsored Ragamuffin parade on Saturday, October 24th, 10am at the 9/11 Park located just South of the LIRR trestle on Broadway/Route 110 by Cameta Camera. Parade marches South of Broadway/Route 110 and ends in the parking lot of the Park Avenue Elementary School.
Senator Michael Venditto & AFA (Alzheimer’s Foundation of America) are hosting a Free Memory Screening Program.
A memory screening is a first come, first served simple and safe evaluation to check memory and other thinking skills. It can indicate whether a follow up with a health care professional is needed.
The face-to-face screening takes place in a private setting. Only the individual being tested an the screener are present and takes approximately 10 minutes.
A screening consists of a series of questions and/or tasks designed to test memory, language skills, thinking ability, and other intellectual functions.
Results of the memory screenings are confidential. the participant will receive the screening results to bring to a health care professional for follow-up if necessary.
The annual Holiday Tree Lighting will be on Saturday December 5th at the gazebo in the heart of Amityville Village at 5 pm. There will be music, singing and Santa Claus will arrive on his sleigh. Free hot chocolate will be provided by the Amityville Chamber of Commerce. Amityville Community Radio will be recording portions of the festivities for playback on the air at a later date.
The AMHS National Honor Society is sponsoring a breakfast with Santa for children of all ages.
there will be games, face painting, balloon animals, crafts, life music & stories.
