Motorists are advised that day and night time travel lane closures and brief night time ramp closures of NY Route 27/Sunrise Highway restart tomorrow, Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in the eastbound and/or westbound direction in the vicinity of NY Route 110 in the Town of Babylon, Suffolk County. Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. a single travel lane in one or both directions may be closed. Between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., a single and/or double lane travel lane may be closed in one or both directions and entrance/exit ramps will be completely closed for a short duration. At least one travel lane in each direction of NY Route 27 will remain open at all times. These off-peak day and night time closures are expected to be in effect Monday through Friday as needed, for about one month in order to install temporary concrete barriers along NY Route 27 and the perimeters of the entrance/exit ramps to allow for the construction of a temporary bridge.
Drivers are being warned in advance of the closings via electronic road signs but should plan to take alternate routes to avoid delays. Ramp closures are expected to last no longer than one hour and detours will be in place for motorists. Emergency service providers, local businesses, neighborhood schools, elected officials and the Town of Babylon are being notified of these NY Route 27/Sunrise Highway and NY Route 110 ramp travel lane closures. These closures are weather dependent and may be canceled or postponed due to inclement weather. Additional travel advisories will be issued as the project progresses.
