Scope of Services: Amityville Rte. 110 Traffic Calming & Safety Study
The Village of Amityville (The Village), requires the services of a traffic engineering firm to conduct a traffic study and potentially design and engineering services in association with the creation of a “Complete Street” along Rt 110, between Sunrise Hwy to the north, Avon Place to the south, Countyline Road to the west, and Bayview Avenue to the east. The goal is to calm traffic to create a safer, ADA compliant walkable and bicycle friendly main street that encourages downtown revitalization.
It is the intent of the Village to narrow Rte. Broadway/Rte. 110, potentially to three lanes, one in each direction with turning lane, and widened sidewalks with a bike path (see example on page 3). Mitigation measures to be considered may include lane narrowing, lane diets, dedicated bike lanes, curb extensions & bulb-outs, sidewalk & ramp improvements, crosswalk, turn & parking restrictions, median construction, new turn lanes, traffic signals, traffic signal modifications, pedestrian timing/phasing enhancements, driver feedback devices, school crossings and route identification.
